Relationship
with the Government of State Peace and Development Council (SPDC)
and Ethnic Nationality Cease-fire Groups
Recognized and encouraged by the government SF is an officially registered local NGO with the Ministry of Home Affairs, and works for peace and related activities sincerely and transparently under the permission of the government. On the other side, the cease-fire armed groups also express trust and welcome SF, and encourage its activities. Invited by the Director of SF on behalf of SF, high-ranking officials of the SPDC government and ethnic national leaders of the cease-fire armed groups attend the Kachin Traditional New Harvest Dinner every year, hosted by SF, as a sign of showing deepest honour and sincerest appreciation to the government and ethnic national leaders for their attempt for peace and development. Such occasion has always been broadcasted through the government media of MRTV, MWD and MRTV-3.
Myanmar Ethnic Nationality Mediators’ Fellowship: Led and organized by SF, Myanmar Ethnic Nationalities Mediators’ Fellowship (MENMF) was formed in May 2002. It is composed of one chairman, six advisors and 15 representatives from different ethnic nationality groups and different parts of the country, who are mediators engaged in mediation works. By aiming to strengthen mediation and peace and development works, MENMF will act as a forum for all the mediators from every corner of the country to come together for sharing, discussion and to search for ways and strategies for the future, and helping each other when needed.
